I'm so glad I finally found a forum about the English Springer Spaniel. What a beautiful dog!
I recently met my first English Springer Spaniel while volunteering at a local rescue shelter. I just fell in love with him immediately and I spent most of my time with him. I enquired after him at the office and I was told that he was already reserved for another home. I am sad for me, but happy for him at the same time.
I didn't know anything about the breed and I started doing research and found some great breeders in my area. One has the show type and the other one has the field type.
The more I read about the breed, the more I love it! My question is, is an ESS right for us? I currently have two yorkies (a four year old male and a two year old female). They are both sterilized and very healthy. They love each other and their toys!
I started training my male, but he is too high-strung to cope with the atmosphere of a competition. So, I want to get a English Springer Spaniel male puppy. We have a big enclosed yard. We play fetch a lot, yorkies are very active little dogs.
I'd really appreciate any advice! |
